Free Will : God or Man? (9781432795849)
I have been saved by the free grace of God in Jesus Christ in his work on Calvary (in His death, burial, and resurrection) as only God can regenerate anyone (John 1:12-13 and John 3:3), and regeneration precedes faith. The purpose and goal of this book is found in this: Defining what condition mankind's will is in now and what condition Adam's will was in and what will God possesses, free or bound. If one believes in the free-will of man, then, God has no free-will. If one believes in the free-will of God, then, man has no free-will. My goal and aim in this book is to educate the reader about how important this subject is and how to be a Berean and search the Scriptures daily to see whether what men today are saying is truth or error about this subject. Either man has a free-will and God is not in control or man does not have a free-will and God is in total control of every human being. You cannot have both. I need to say this before anything is stated in this book, that the subject of free-will is one of the most important (if not the most important) subject that exists in religion (The Christian Religion) ever to be discussed. Martin Luther in his book Bondage of the Will articulated this truth most exactly and perfectly: "So it is not irreligious, idle, or superfluous, but in the highest degree wholesome and necessary, for a Christian to know whether his will has anything to do in matters pertaining to salvation. Indeed, let me tell you, this is the hinge on which our discussion turns, the crucial issue between us; our aim is, simply, to investigate what ability free-will has, in what respect it is the subject of Divine action and how it stands related to the grace of God. If we know nothing of these things, we shall know nothing whatsoever of Christianity and shall be in worse case than any people on earth! He who dissents from this statement should acknowledge that he is no Christian; and he who ridicules or derides it should realize that he is the Christian's chief foe." Martin Luther 1517 A.D. William Tyndale said this: "I had perceived by experience how it was impossible to establish the lay people in any truth except the Scriptures were plainly laid before their eyes in their mother tongue; that they might see the process, the order, the meaning of the text; or else whatever truth is taught then: these enemies of all truth quench it again, wresting the Scripture unto 'their own purpose' CLEAN CONTRARY to the context, process and meaning of the text." William Tyndale 1500's The problem, today, is that men are their own authority in the matter of what God says. Again, God gave the Holy Scriptures only one meaning and interpretation; not many. So either God possesses a free-will' or He does not. Likewise, either man is radically depraved and totally unable to come to Christ (no free-will) or man is totally free in his will and can do whatever and whenever he wants, (no bondage) completely free from any interference whatsoever even from God. It is either one or the other, you cannot have both.
